About Sciovia

An independent home for research opportunities.

Sciovia is a free, non-commercial initiative that helps the research community find its way — to opportunities, to knowledge, and to each other.

Sciovia — from the Latin scio ("to know") and via ("the way") — means the path of knowing. That is what we set out to be: a trustworthy guide for researchers.

Every week, researchers lose hours hunting across scattered websites for calls for papers, funding, positions, internships, and conferences. Sciovia gathers the ones worth knowing about, verifies them, and shares them in one calm place — so you can spend less time searching and more time on work that matters.

We are independent and not affiliated with any organization. We charge nothing, take no advertising, and promote opportunities on merit alone. Our only measure of success is whether the community finds this genuinely useful.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is Sciovia free?

Yes — completely. Reading the digest, browsing opportunities, and membership are all free. Sciovia is non-commercial: no fees, no advertising, no paid placements.

Who runs Sciovia?

Sciovia is an independent initiative run by a volunteer managing committee of researchers, organised as section editors who curate each area. It is not affiliated with any university, society, or organization.

Do I need to be a member to use it?

No. The weekly digest and the opportunities directory are open to everyone. Membership is optional — it gives you a Sciovia ID and Member Pass, and a way to belong to the community.

How are opportunities verified?

Every listing is checked against its original source and linked to it before we share it. We favour accuracy over volume — one verified item beats ten unchecked ones.

How do I submit an opportunity?

Use the List an event form. Share a conference, call for papers, grant, position, or internship — we review each submission before it appears.

Is membership a professional accreditation?

No. Sciovia membership is a mark of belonging to a community, not a professional qualification or accreditation.

How can I get involved further?

Reach out through the contact form below. As Sciovia grows, there will be opportunities to volunteer, contribute, and help shape what we build next.
